The friendly river towns most historical Bed & Breakfast
X
The Vale of Avoca was a single storey hotel opened in 1879 by James and Elizabeth Egan. The second storey was added in 1926 by John and Agnes Dwyer.
It was delicenced and ceased being a hotel in 1942 but rather continued as a boarding house and then a hosiery factory until around 1952.
After 1952 it was converted into flats (seven flats) with a couple of shops fronts on the ground level. One of which was occupied by Gus Mercurio who practiced as a chiropractor at the time.
"The Vale", as it is commonly known, was carefully restored in 1997 and now operates as a Bed & Breakfast Accommodation with Dining/Conference Room facilities and a new Kitchen and Café which was originally the old bar area.
